A ranger for the NPS has sourced all the National Parks maps into one data base. You can get maps of all the parks free here..... http://npmaps.com/

If I made my own maps in gis, I could have a full scale high res hammock.

Thinking cap is definitely turned on.
    I sew things on youtube.
I don’t sew on commission, so please don’t ask. Thanks.

For the record, an image printed at full resolution across the full width of a yard of OutdoorINK fabric would need to be just over 18,000 pixels across; at standard aspect ratio you would need to use a 250-megapixel photograph -- and that's just to span one yard. (A no-repeat hammock blank is typically cut from a four-yard run of fabric.)

This is a great idea!!! I would love to buy some fabric with maybe the camp I started hunting from way back when I was in college in the Adirondacks, or maybe where we hunt now. Totally cool idea!

This is the advantage of using vectors instead of rasters when making maps. I'm going to remember this point the next time I get into an argument with one of those raster-snobs. Think ahead to the hammock applications!

Absolutely. They even got the local sea monsters right!

This is a great idea. You can take advantage of the smaller runs that they offer on outdoor ink products (half-width, quarter, etc) so it doesn't have to be gigantic.

I'm less interested in making a hammock/tarp out of this and more interested in the idea of having a few waterproof maps that won't tear easily that I could essentially jam in the bottom of a pocket somewhere.

I wonder, did people actually believe in crazy creatures like that? Would it be like us thinking about aliens in spaceships now?

I think I see a unicorn popping his head out of the sea

The ocean is full of dark and mythical creatures. Nothing scares me more than jellyfish, and for good cause.

Like the Irukandji. Tiny, almost transparent and a single sting can be lethal. Multiple stings and it's pretty much guaranteed.
