How is your niece liking hammocks? Her first time, right?
She hasn't spent a full night in a hammock yet, but we are making plans for a camping trip in June. She is so excited about this and is getting her own hammock for her 8th birthday.

Packs have gremlins; sometimes they get bored and roam the woods.

Last night my shoes didn't move. Whatever was messing with them decided to move on, I suppose. Watch out. Your shoes may be next.

Sorry about this Jelly. See when I returned from Hawaii in 1972 as a child. I snuck a couple of Menehune ( pronounced Men ah who knee ) in my luggage. They have since made themselves quite at home here in the whole DelMarVa area. The older ones are still upset at having been moved from Hawaii and visit me often to pay me back, the younger generation has come to see the area as their home and only scoff at how the older ones describe Hawaii as paradise. I've been told they really love the Chincoteague/Assateague area. They are fond of the ponies and sika deer.

I had a raccoon under me one night trying to shred one of my boots. Hit the bottom of my hammock and woke me up. I slapped the side of my hammock and he ran while dropping my boot. A couple of holes in the top section of my boot but at least he did not run too far with it in his mouth.

People on the lightweight forum always poo-poo carrying camp shoes, but THIS ^^^^ is one reason I always carry camp shoes. If the camp shoes get chewed or stolen by gremlins I still have my hiking shoes, which are tied off the ground.

I've seen some strange things. I actually had a squirrel go under my tarp, into my backpack, and steal a Bahco folding saw. I had witnesses too, so I didn't imagine it. As the squirrel ran up a tree, saw in his possession, I started throwing sticks and rocks at him and he dropped the saw.

I have no idea why a squirrel would want a Bahco folding saw - maybe he thought it would help him out in life.
