canoeble - remind me not to put my hammock under yours, bunk bed style. There are lots of threads you could access discussing "water" bottle solutions as well and a novel way to use the bottom opening Hennessy hammocks.

Being older it's normal for me to get up 2 or three times a night even at home. But just like from my kayaks I have also learned to pee from the hammock. First I learned to pee in a wide mouth nalgen bottle but I was always afraid I would slip. So learned to just hang off the side. I considered cutting a hole in the bottom of the hammock or maybe add a couple of seatbelts. One at the knees and one at the chest. Then just flip the whole hammock over with me in it, take care of business, then flip back over.

I enjoy getting up and seeing the beautiful night sky. If it is really nasty weather, I have figured out how to manage without getting out of the hammock. Makes my wife nuts. I don't view it as a problem at all.

It's a bummer not having my contacts in. The 100s of stars are more of a blob up there. Sometimes, about half the nights, I'll sleep with my contacts in to enjoy the view.

If it's raining, I'll pee standing just inside the tarp. This whole thread is TMI

Haha! I'm not the only one! One word of warning, though... one night I'd gotten warm and took my shirt off. I had set it in the hammock with me, but sometime thereafter I had wound up kicking it out of my hammock. I thought my very early morning stream from the hammock made an odd sound as it made splashdown... found out in the morning that apparently every drop went right on top of that shirt. Glad I had a spare.

I have this problem too! And yes I'm warm enough in my insulated hammocks I make. Super annoying.

For scuba diving, this happens too. They told us than when the body gets a little cold, one reaction is to dump the bilge so the body doesn't have to keep it warm.

All these medical reasons could possibly the cause. Tho I personally think it is mother nature telling me to get out and gaze upon the beauty of the night sky, that or it's those dang nocturnal woods dwarfs.

Also being of the Irish persuasion I do put a lot of faith in the existence of Leprechauns or as the tales tend to call them, the wee people and if there is more than one then it would be the wee wee people.
