I made mine and it was definitely an easy first project. I made one long tube VS two separate. Then I have some drawstrings on each end to help keep things organized. Good Luck! You can do it!
Heres something i use thats simple

Hello artful, iv'e had no issues with it through windy days . It holds & keeps tarp.

Did you try it or do you just like the idea of the concept? I am considering it for my tarp, but I am wondering if a waterproof tarp snakeskin would be preferable? I have zero experience but my thought are:
Pros:
I can put it on wet and dirty ground, without getting anything on the tarp, which is nice when you are a 5.6 girl doing it alone.
It wont get stuck on stuff as the net of the loofa might.
Cons:
Heavier.
Packing a wet tarp, it will be wet inside and might be hard to air out?
The work of making it.
I cant use the last fabric I have for something else...
Yes, DIY snakeskins are good. I made a larger version, so that I can use it with my Hammock and Skytent 2 together. This gives me enough room to roll up my sleep system with it also. I just moved over my Hennessey from my stock snakeskins to my DIY last night. Here are some pictures. I call this my Anaconda, and it's still very squishy with plenty of extra room. It's fit on the outside of my Flash 30 pack easily. I made mine out of normal nylon ripstop, and I may impregnate it with silicon eventually. I don't see the real need, because the nylon will dry quickly, and my pack cover can cover in the rain. Also, I thought that the normal nylon would help my system dry quicker when I bundle it up early in the morning. That is another reason that I went with the two part skins. First, I can pack more things into the snake skin, as there's extra wiggle room. Second, I can open up the middle by pulling both skins back a bit, and this will help it dry more. A single skin could work fine, but I really like how the two narrows down and can overlap in the middle. You couldn't get the same shape from a single tube. image (83).jpgimage (84).jpgimage (85).jpg
