    Shelter Hammocking on the AT

Hey everyone, I just posted a video of an overnight trip that I made on the Appalachian Trail just North of Jennings Creek in Virginia. I overnighted at the Little Cove Mountain Shelter, the wind was up and t was cool so I hung out inside! Great trip with some amazing views. Thanks!!!

Nice trip video. Very cool that you had the shelter by yourself and were able to hang in it.

Is your pack a Circuit or a Catalyst?

Good job on the "nap camp" lol. My kind of camp!

Nice video. What camera gear were you using? I am near Staunton and Waynesboro, VA. I will go with you next time!

Why would you want to be couped up in the shelter when you have all those wonderful trees around?

p.s. In general, tents or hammocks aren't supposed to be in the shelters. Never know who's gonna come stumbling in after dark, and typically not in the best of moods to deal with asking you to move your stuff. Besides not being a big deal to string up the tarp outside, you just never know in what structural condition the shelters might be in to support the greater forces of hanging.

dakotaross, I know. It was really breezy out and I was beat. You are correct, I was a hog, luckily no one stumbled in. The shelter was pretty stout structurally, I was not worried. I will hang outside next time. It stank in there anyway!

No worries. Shelters suck as you found out. Sometimes like camping nearby to have privy and table, but the hanging is pretty slim at lots of them.
