Last summer, I hiked in to a wilderness area but the trailhead and first 2 miles were swarming with people. I knew what to expect so for a change I wore my iPod and boy it helped me pick up my feet and climb! I'm an old hippie so I like reggae and Santana, plus old soul stuff like Marvin Gaye, etc. It was weird to be hearing that while seeing the high Sierra but it got me through the miles. My drink of choice on the trail is Emergen-C. It's almost carbonated and seems to really quench the thirst. I know we're supposed to be imagining something fancier but put me in my hammock and I'd rather listen to a little creek chortling than any man-made tunes.

Unfortunately I don't get much chance to hang out in my hammock while not backpacking. That's almost part of why I go out, now. Gives me more motivation. I do get some car camping in from time to time, and then I'll laze about in it for a while, and then usually I'm drinking cold fizzy yellow beer. And most times I'm in someone else's spot, and they primarily listen to death metal too, so that's what I'm listening to. Or the swarms of all our kids running around and screaming. So we usually have the music up pretty loud.

I generally don't use any sound enhancements on the trail although I do carry a set of ear plugs which I use (rarely) when I seem to have camped in the middle of a cricket/ bullfrog concert. Most times I love the sound of nature at night but there have been a couple of times where the sound is so loud it keeps me awake. That being said I just bought a couple of Ocarinas a month or so ago. I got a 12 hole and a 6 hole that I am going to try to learn to play a little. If you are not familiar with them, they are a wind instrument that plays the type of music you hear in movies like Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit. The 6 hole while a little shrill for my taste only weighs one ounce and fits in the palm of my hand. About the size of a very small potato. I plan to take the small one with me backpacking.

In the back yard, anything by the Avett Brothers and a bottle of Cheerwine. Smoke in Our Lights is the only song I can think of that actually mentions hammocks.

    On the trail, silence.

You'd probably find me listening to Jack Johnson or maybe Juzzie Smith while hanging with an ice-cold Dr. Pepper or Arnold Palmer in hand.
There are two kinds of people in this world. Those that can extrapolate from incomplete data.

Music: Leonard Cohen or Cowboy Junkies
    I sew things on youtube.
I don’t sew on commission, so please don’t ask. Thanks.

    Sounds about right!
Some whisky or beer wouldn't go amiss either.

I like to hammock in an Urban Forest parts of which at times are filled with the gentle sounds of trains, distant gunfire, the tuba bass lines of Tejano music etc. So yes I listen to music in my hammock. Lately I've been on a Tears for Fears kick, but my go to Trinity Forest jams are usually My Morning Jacket, Father John Misty, Cults, St. Vincent, with some reggae and Robert Plant thrown in for good measure. I enjoy bourbon, coffee or hot chocolate.
