    New Cheapskate Hanger from Arkansas

I am a new Hanger from Arkansas, but I am a relatively recent transplant from Kentucky. I wanted to get into hanging without parting with $600. So, I lurked, read, and waited for some deals. I got a Byer of Maine Miskito Kakoon hammock with the Byer Micro Straps and Byer Traveller Rain Fly, through Massdrop for $108 shipped. I got in the recent sale for a Sungpak synthetic underquilt (underblanket) for $28. I bought the Snugpak synthetic topquilt (hammock quilt) for $35. So, I am at $170 fully set up. I could have been under $150 total if I would have been more patient and got a Kelty 12-ft rainfly through woot rather opt for the Byer rainfly, but the Byer rainfly is still a very good price. I was nervous about getting a hammock less than 11-feet long (I'm 5'10" tall), but Derek's (theultimatehang.com) review of the 2016 moskito Kakoon convinced me that I could be comfortable in this hammock. My first night out was last night, but I came inside at 2:15 am when it started raining because I was in Porch mode and too lazy to button-down. The temps here were in the upper 40's F, and I was warm.

Nothing wrong with being a baller on a budget! Anything that gets you off the ground is a step in the right direction. You now know you don't have to break the bank to find comfort.

The Lake Cumberland area is where I lived before moving to AR, but I grew up in central KY and I also worked in Louisville for 3 years.

Sweet area. I grew up in Grayson/Hart counties and long for those days back as a kid. We had the entire central Kentucky wilderness to ourselves back then. Man how time flies.

Nothing wrong at all with getting out there in an inexpensive way!

Welcome, from South Caroliniana. That's a good looking budget rig you've set up.

I prefer "price conscious consumer" over cheapskate, but hey, Hang your own hang!
