I never see Enlightened Equipment mentioned here, is there a reason? are the quilts no good, too expensive? are they bad people?..

I just got an EE Revelation. Love it. High quality, well made, and warm. Can't recommend them enough.
I see them mentioned often and spoken well of. Personally, I haven't bought a quilt from them but would like to. I do have one of their hoodlums and like it.

My brother has a 0* set of quilts from them and he loves them. They look like great quality. I feel like I see them mentioned quite often actually. Just my perspective I guess. Their wait for quilts was a bit long for me. In the end I went with a 0* set from HG. I really don't think you could go wrong with any of the cottage vendors honestly.

Their underquilt is not appealing. While it most likely works adequately, their underquilt design looks less refined that many of the more popular brands. I suspect most hangers start with an underquilt purchase then return to the same manufacturer for their top quilt. If your underquilt didn't come from EE you'll be less likely to buy your topquilt from them; less likely to buy your winter-weights, your custom work ect.

I've seen them mentioned several times positively here. The top quilts look nice to me. Plus made in the u.s.a. which is another positive to me.

Can anyone elaborate on what design shortfalls they have? I have several of their top quilts, and I love them. I have been contemplating a Revelation, but I don't have experience with under quilts, and I'd like to understand which designs are preferred. Thanks.

Well, I haven't had the oportunity to use a Revolt underquilt, but just from looking at the photos on the website, I don't agree with the opinion that they design is sub-standard. I actually would have ordered a Revolt long ago, if my taste wouldn't be so expensive taste (I would want the 950FP down and the largest size) and the extra customs charges. From what I can see on the pictures, the underquilt is not pre-shaped (like e.g. the HG Incubators), but I have had better luck with simple underquilts than with pre-shaped ones. I have also not read negative feedback.
I do own a Prodigy top quilt, that can be converted into an underquilt. Actually, I have been using it more as an underquilt than as a top quilt, and I quite like it. I believe that EE is the only manufacturer that uses a zippered footbox, which is a big advantage in my opinion. I can't stand sewn footboxes, and snaps are less sturdy and versatile than zippers.
I'd say give it a go. The workmanship on my Prodigy is very good, and it works as advertised - I don't think you will be disappointed if you buy with EE.

Since they don't have their own sub forum you have to really dig to get info on them. I've got 2 revelations (0 and 20) and a 0 degree enigma. They are great topquilts and have never let me down. IMO, the price is competitive with any other vendor here on the forums. Lead time isn't too bad and they do keep a stock of ready to go quilts with limited options. Quality is outstanding with great attention to detail. I say give it a try. If you don't like it you can always sell it here or return it.
