After some struggles with hammock camping under 40 degrees I go out and try some TENT backpacking in the Cheaha Wilderness!

Nice trip video. Do you have a map of your hike? I've got to get down to the Pinhoti before the weather gets too warm. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your trip report. Too bad our paths didn't cross. We (myself,otter1 and a friend) did the extended Skyway Loop: Cheaha Trailhead-Cave Creek-Pinhoti-Chinnabee-Skyway-Adams Gap-Pinhoti back to Cheaha TH. Saturday night we camped between Adams Gap and Stairway To Heaven, so we must have come through your camp soon after you left. And yes, Silky Saws are awesome.

Shoot me a pm if you'd like to get out in the area. I live closer to Talladega NF than The Bankhead.

Nothing wrong with tents. I have 6! Same number as my hammocks. We live in a fantastic area to enjoy both. Maybe our paths will cross?

Friend and I did Pinhoti-Chinnabee-Skyway loop from/to Adams Gap Friday-Sunday. Sunday morning temp @ Hubbard Creek on Skyway (847' elev) was 26 F @ 7 am.

We are looking at doing that loop in the near future. Any advice...clockwise vs counterclockwise? We will make it a 2 night 3 day trip. Suggestions for campsites?
