So, I ordered the burnt orange Hexon 1.6 wide hammock kit from Dutch's MakeYourGear website, and made my first fully DIY hammock. It is a huge upgrade from my Grand Trunk Double (That I thought I was pretty happy with before this one.). 11' long and 6' wide and such a soft fabric! Very nice!
Anyhow, I did a Knotty Mod on the foot side mostly because I'm used to the faux-footbox that it creates to help keep the top quilt in. I passed the shock cord through a flame from a lighter to stop it from fraying. After I got all done, I was not a happy camper to find that the shock cord must have rubbed against the hammock when it was still a bit warm, and caused a black stain on my brand new hammock. GRRRR!!!! It was really ugly!!!

I took a few scraps of the Hexon and recreated the stain to test stain removal products. 70% rubbing alcohol? Nothing. Goo Gone? Nothing. Nail polish remover? Nothing. Then the wife suggested OxyClean. I made a sort of paste with the Oxyclean and a bit of water, and rubbed it in to the stain. At first, I tried a toothbrush to scrub with. DO NOT DO THIS!!! It separated the fabric, causing a very thin spot. But, the stain was gone. Progress! So, I tried again just rubbing the OxyClean in with my fingers, and rubbing the fabric against itself. Stain Gone!!! YEA!!! I rinsed it well with plain water, and let it dry. It looks perfect again!
Just passing my findings on to all the others who have helped me on this site.
