Are snake skins pretty universal, or should I buy a certain one for say an 11' DH Thunderbird that one that I would buy for my HH Explorer deluxe?

My snake skin covers less than 3/4 of my tarp. (I roll it from one end). It holds it together just fine and I pack it on the outside of my pack.
So I'd say don't sweat the size.

You should try to order them to fit if you can. I have a single and really like this style over two but either way the snakeskin concept is a great way to store your tarps.
I use HH skins on my tarp and an 11' single HG on my hammock. I use a baby hammock on my ridge line and don't even empty it I just skin everything. It kinda bubbles at the end but stuffs easy once you get the air out.

I didn't even think about needing separate skins for your tarp and hammock.
Skins are also a great way to stow your hammock; I like to use Argon 67 for these. They are a nice and easy DIY project. I prefer a single skin; easier to get the air bubble out as I slide it over the tarp or hammock. Skins also make it easy to string the tarp up, leave it in the skin and just enjoy the hammock, but also have the tarp handy when you need it.
A Me-Sack is vastly superior to snakeskins for stowing a hammock. I've tried both countless times and sack always wins out.

I prefer Bishop bags for my hammock.
May get some snake skins for my tarp or even the singular sleeve from HG.
Decision's....Decision's.

Any of you have a dh thunderbird? That's what I just ordered and it would be nice to know how the fit was/
It comes with a double ended stuff sack.
