Calf Ridge...more or less in Double Layered Hammock?

I use 2.2 Hex70XL in the hammocks I make and in all lengths (10' 11' 12') I've found that there is a decrease in calf ridge. I've found the 2.2 Hex70XL has a great balance between stretch and firmness. Just my opinion. And the weave pattern is just cool!

I find less calf ridge with my Dutchware 1.6 hexon than my other (thinner) single layer hammocks. My only double layer (1.1) hammock is from Simply Light and also has less calf ridge. This seems a bit contrary to the opinions of others. Garsh. Sorry to mess things up!

My experience with different types of hammocks is limited, but I have an ENO DN and my go-to is a Table Cloth. I've never had a problem with calf ridge in either. Not much help I know!

    Shug,
I'm WAY too big (6'0 #285) for most if not all Singles but bought and have built several DL's. As a full time hanger, I have several DL's of varying materials most of which are the 1.6 and up grade. One thing I noticed is if I adjust the ridgeline length I get almost all of them to "no calf ridge". I do notice that each of them has a different ridge length based on material so I have always suspected material plays a significant part and adjustment in length and whether your head is 6-12" higher or not than your feet. I start with 80-90% and fiddle with it until there is no calf ridge. My WBBB XLC has proven to be the most comfortable hammock experience of all the ones I have made and a few I have purchased and since I'm a bug-o-phobe, all of them have integrated nets. Perhaps, the foot box or symmetry of the hammock makes a large difference but either way, I like it quite a bit.

    Enjoy
    SG
