I always check my shoes before I put them on, give em a shake and a look. Rarely find anything but better to look than have a problem. I have had scorpions sting me when we lived in SW MO. Picked up a flower pot just before the tornadoes hit, got stung for no9t looking before picking up. Recluse spiders are another problem almost everywhere now.
Always firmly tap the heel of your boots and pull the tongue back to peer inside before putting them on. Or use a bag like MDCrab. Learned that with a palmetto bug in FL. Those things have feet that feel like sand spurs on your toes. And their stench is AWFUL!
Nothing and I mean nother ever goes in my boot after my corpsy foot has been in it all day long...rotting my socks.
So all clear here.

Good idea. I generally tie the laces together and hang them over the ridgeline under the bug net with me inside.
