Superfly gets wet in the rain...

I know most will say duh! but let me explain. I have had my Superfly for several years and has been used plenty of times. I remember when it was new, I could just shake it a couple of good times and and it would be 95% dry. Now it gets soppy wet and takes forever to dry.

My question is, can I use something like Scotchgard Heavy Duty Water Shield on the outside without adverse affects to the tarp? Or are there any other tips for restoring that freshly waxed car effect where water just beads off?

Just to clarify it doesn't leak and never has.

A coating of one of a water repellent may work but this is the nature of SilNylon it wets out. This is why most newer tarps are being made of SilPoly as these do not wet out.

I would recommend using a silicone spray on it. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0001...silicone+spray

This stuff works really good, I use it on my tarps and my rain gear.
By all means, let's argue about whether or not a hammock will hurt a tree. All the while ignoring the fact that there is an island of garbage the size of Texas floating in the Pacific ocean. Or how about the fact that over 75% of the world's nuclear reactors are leaking...

I use Nikwax products on my raingear. I see no reason it wouldn't work well on your tarp.

Nikwax makes good products, I use their down proof on my down quilts for a water repellent on the fabric and the down. I would recommend not using a water base water repellent, from my experience they simply beed up on Fabrics that have already been treated and do not absorb, they also tend to wash out a lot faster, go figure ;<)

Yes, make sure you’re using a silicone based product, hence SilNylon. Should be good as new after a good touch up.

Why not contact Warbonnet and ask them if they have a recommended treatment?
