    Tarp Porch

While waiting on my knee replacement surgery scheduled in April, I still need to get out while backpacking is on hold. All we're doing is car/motorcycle camping at the moment, so weight is not an issue. I purchased an 11 ft. Xenon Wide Winter Haven tarp from Jared at Simply Light Designs. It's amazing and I love the extra width coverage. Looking at Kitsapcowyboy's DIY wide tarp convinced me to go wide...my thanks to him!

I wanted a porch to match, so Jared made me this add on. Basically a rectangle 144"x 74". It mates up with my tarp pull outs, and has a number of configurations. Weight is around 14 oz. I got the initial idea from Wilderness Logics (add-a-porch) and just expanded on it a bit for more coverage. I primarily wanted something I could park my motorcycle under when it's raining.

I like how it turned out. That really does give you tons of extra room. Jared does great work and I've had him do some custom work for me in the past.

Thanks...I can easily park two bikes under it. Jared was very reasonable on the price.

Thank you...you got the ball rolling. I wish I had your DIY skill, but my patience and skill limit me to just making hammocks.

Thanks! I had it in a week and most of that time was him waiting to get the fabric.
