Good hammock stand that won't break the bank?

So, these days I find myself in a yard with no trees. I never wanted to go to a stand, but if I'm to do any testing, looks like that's where I'm stuck.

Any recommendations for something workable and not too expensive? I don't need to travel with it, I just need 14' + from eye to eye.

    Thanks in advance.

I have the tato gear stand via dutch's site. It is pricy. I'm still trying to figure out how best to use it. I have decided to try using a beach ball to keep the legs from closing on each other when setting up. I also think I need stakes for it (like heavy duty monster stakes). I'm probably going to get these:

I'm still climbing the learning curve on it.

Have you considered going the permanent stand route? Ie Use 2 6x6 posts and sink them in the ground with some concrete? Or if you have to please a significant other, you could build a freestanding pergola and just happen to space the posts the perfect distance for hanging your hammock and tarp?

    Cheers

Permanent sounds dreamy, especially with a pergola.

I used the Tato Gear hammock kit and bought the conduit from HomeDepot and really like this kit. The trouble is I can't find where you can buy just the kit now.

Not sure where bfe is, but it's common to see bamboo patches on the side of the interstates around CLT. Try a turtle lady stand. Using a large diameter piece of bamboo 14' + is doable.

Agreed. That is what I intend to build at some point.

I use a DIY turtle dog stand and use it in the house for test hangs and what have you

I have the NoGround Car Camp stand from tiggzcraftworkz.com - love it so far

For soft-ish ground I use the 12 inch version of "orange screw" anchor - they are amazing.

For hard ground any large stake anchor will work ok.

And for sand I made 24 inch DIY stakes from T-aluminum

I purchased a number of the aluminum military net support poles off ebay. Hint shop for the best deal. I drilled them to lock together with spring pins or clevis pins. I put up two tripods and a ridge pole. I like it because it is light, portable, breaks down into short 4' sections, and I can use the poles for other applications like the shortwave antenna in my back yard. I also have four sections suspended from the garage rafters with mule tape. I can use this for my WBRR and DH Raven and when I am done sleeping I can move it out of the way the next morning, because there is also a Subaru wagon and my Tacoma in the garage too.

Just what has worked well for me.
