Suggestions for an Ogee style tarp...

I'm planning an ogee style tarp from 6 yds of silpoly. 11ft 6in ridge length

Am looking for input from anyone that has constructed or used this style of tarp, it's new to me.

One question I have pertains to the ridgeline ends, should I notch it from the corners in toward the ridge tieout? or just make them square?

    option #1

    ---------x
    _______/
    -------x
    _______\
    ---------x

    or

    option #2

    ---------x
    ________|
    ---------x
    ________|
    ---------x

does it even matter since these 'mini' doors won't be too close to the ground?

Any and all input pertaining to this style of tarp would be greatly appreciated.

I'm ready to start this project.

I'm now wondering about the strength of the ridgeline, since there is no felled seam or grosgrain along the ridgeline between tie outs. I suppose asym tarps made in the same manner.

    Should this be a concern?

How are you planning to sew the seam? Just a straight stitch without any finishing?

I don’t sew on commission, so please don’t ask. Thanks.

Or does it not have a seam?

The ridge has no seam, I plan to roll hem the triangles on the two short sides, then stitch the long sides of the triangles to the tarp body, followed by a rolled hem around the tarp body that further incorporates the long side of the triangles.

I wouldn't sweat it. Not punching through the fabric with the needle sounds like a bonus to me.

I have a super ogee and I hang it in a lot of different configurations. I am not sure where the ridgeline really is.

What are the dimensions on the super ogee? I only have 6 yards of material for this tarp...

You might want to PM Gargoyle. He was the originator after a design on a large Moss Parawing I have used for 25 years. He was intrigued with it and created the Ogee design. I don't know the dimensions.
