At home a restless side sleeper.
On the Trail a restful back sleeper. One key not mentioned is the ability to figure four either leg. 80% of the time it is my left leg (left side sleeper) and 20% is the right leg. Why to I mention figure four, I am not sure but it lessens my need to sleep on my side. The only time I really go to my side, is for the previous mentioned fetal position which is more about cozy warmth than comfort of the back in the hammock.
My main reason for Hammock over Tent is a more restful recovery sleep.

I sleep on my side, WITHOUT PAIN. My hammock is the only place I am pain free. I am able to sleep sound for six hours in my hammock.

One thing I learned is I am a head right and feet left kind of lady. It took a while for me to figure out that I am a lefty. I switched to lefty GE and they work better for me. Still have problems exiting.

My Ridgerunner is my very best lay and a easy exit, sleep on my side in it. When sleeping in my RR, I don't think I move, I just sort of pass out for six hours. I have a computer and lots of junk holding my shoulder together but in my hammock I sleep on that side. My bed is a different story.

I have a bad back from time to time. When it flares up I go spend a couple of nights in my hammock. I'm almost always a side sleeper in my bed, and about 50% of the time in my hammock. Side sleeping rocks with the right set up!!

With an 11' hammock i'm able to side sleep, more or less. While I usually sleep on my stomach at home, the hammock is so comfortable that i don't mind sleeping on my back. feels natural.

Im a side sleeper at home 100% of the time. In my WL 11' Night Owl I always fall asleep on my back, then a few hours later roll onto my left side. Im a feet left, shoulders right lay, I just make sure I have a extra hug pillow and am good until after sunrise. I use a combination of a snap together neck travel pillow and a DIY round "log" type hug pillow. Occasionally I sleep on my stomach but that's an hour maximum.

I had the same concerns when I first started looking at hammocks. In my bed I sleep on my side and toss and turn through the night from back to side. In the hammock I sleep on my back 100% of the time and find it very comfortable.

Some hammocks are known for providing better side sleeping comfort than others. Notably designs like the Luke's 90 degree, Ergo, or Amok style hammocks or bridge hammocks like the WBRR and JRB bridge.

Side sleeper here also. The only thing I have to get used to when in the hammock is the material a few inches from my face, which obviously is not there in a normal bed. But a few minutes into it, it becomes a non-issue when I get used to it. One thing I found is that having an appropriate pillow has been an immense help for me to get comfortable. I picked up one of those small (something like 18" square) microfiber throw pillows for couches. Works great as a hammock pillow.
