There is a way to "do both".. I cant find the vid at the moment that shows how to do it.., however you get a 3rd tie down each side in the center, and dongle. Put the pole in one center tie down, run it up and over and into the dongle attached to the other center tie down, followed by tieing off the pole to the ridge line so it doesn't flop over on you.. ..
