Grizz has a video where he shows how to make a locked whipping knot. I've used it in place of the celtic knot. Works just as well and won't slip off. MikekiM may recall the vid.
I found the vid. Grizz calls it the "blocking end whipping knot".
^ The orange shackles above are 1/8 amsteel and as I recall weigh 8grams each. The blue (or green) celtic shackle is 7/64 and weighs about 6grams.
^ MikekiM and I also use it to close loops over button (diamond?) knots. In this example on a SMURL (Split Mini-UCR Ridge Line):

I used the locked whipping knot all over my gear. Pretty much everything has a diamond knot on it and little CLs with the locked slider all stopping my pack. Works a charm instead of carabiners for hanging kit.
Getting the tension on the whipping knot right, loose enough to slide, tight enough to stay put) can be tricky. It takes a bit of practice. You tie the standard whipping knot so it is far looser than you would think...once you introduce the two bury's to lock it from sliding off, it gets much tighter. Practice, practice and practice again.

Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....

I'm sure Gary won't mind me pointing out that it wasn't his knot. Attribution is a serious business!
