I wonder how it is we have come to this place in our society where art and nature are spoke in terms of what is optional, the pastime and concern of the elite?

Well some time in the middl of the night, we bailed. I was fine. My set up was fine. But my dog got way too cold. I hung my hammock about a foot from the ground with me in it and I could feel her shivering. She has her own ccf pad and fleece but, some recent health problems has her shaved in several areas so I knew it was a possibility. I had promised her that when she got uncomfortable, we would walk home.

I read your discussion on buying the WH few weeks back and pulled the trigger He made it 13ft with inner and outer pole mods for me to try different ways and moved the tie outs to accommodate my WBRR. I haven't had the chance yet to put up, will take plenty of pictures when I do. It is so light! Jared is awesome, just a pleasure to do business with.

Sweet!!!
January: checked off.
I have 9 nights in the hammock in January: 3 in my back yard, 4 in Asheville, NC and 2 at the New Jersey Winter Hang. By far the NJWH was the coldest. I don't know how cold it got, but my jug of water that I left out on Saturday was frozen solid by Sunday morning. I kept warm in my 100% DIY setup.
This is a pic of my dog Stuart practicing with me in the back yard.

I sew things on youtube.
I don’t sew on commission, so please don’t ask. Thanks.
Just got home from my second weekend hang for the year. We stayed at Pine Log State Forest in Florida. Not as cold as predicted--temp down to 43. Stayed warm and slept fairly well in our Twisted Root hammocks & UQs. Used an idea I read about on another thread to improvise a UQ protector for both hammocks from ponchos and tarp grips. My girlfriend is still game trying this new thing with me. Her toes got cold, but that was her only cold issue (tips anyone?). The other problem was noisy neighbors in the public campground, talking with their outdoor voices until well after 4 am. Like they say, you can't always choose your neighbors. Here's a pic of our setup this morning in full porch mode. She was still snoozing away and had put her coat around her feet.
