First DIY - Zing It zipper pulls

Thought I'd have a go at making some continuous loops I could use for zipper pulls with the leftover zing it I got for my guy lines. Turned out pretty nice! The extra rigidity of the bury does a good job of keeping the pulls open and easy to grab.

Of course the first thing the wife says when she sees them is "should've used a hairtie", which is a fair point, but dangit, it wouldn't have been DIYed!

Well done!! What were your measurements for rough line length and bury and all that? I might have to do that here. I did use zingit loops, not CL's though, on or hand towels that would not stay on the darn hook in the kitchen! Worked great.

I wanted 3" loops (6" circumference) so I did 12" line, 1" taper, 1.5" bury on each side, which left 7" in the middle and got me pretty darn close to 3" loop after loss.

After seeing my practice run, I also decided to cut off the taper after pulling it through so I had more skinny length for the girth hitch. This left me with a perfect split on the radians of bury to regular cord thickness, 3" each.

    They look great!

Hair ties are too stretchy for a zipper pull, anyway.

I doubt they're rated for the same load capacity too. Gotta have that tensile strength for my hulk-like zipping.

I've made zipper pulls from 550 paracord (too bulky) and braided mason line (too thin). Zing-It is just right...
