OK - step 1 of my goal is complete - a DL Hammock. I did make a couple of mistakes, but function wise it turned out really well. It was suppose to be 11 Ft, but turned out to be 10'9" (I think i forgot to double the rolled hem value at the gathered ends) and a few arguments with my sewing machine (I have no clue how i made a rats nest out of my bobbin thread) Then having the bobbin thread run out . This one is 1.6 oz HyperD from RSBTR, (spectra Yellow, and Royal Blue) with Whoopee Slings (made those) and tree straps from Dutch and the 1.75 ridge line - Dog Boned the ends - That was not much fun, Loop Turner did not work very well for that - used a really big needle that worked much better for making those ends. Then finished it off with the double ended stuff sack (thanks jellyfish - you videos are great) So now I have a Costco Top Quilt, and my 25 yr old thermal rest pad. Step 2 will be the Tarp. I got kit from RSBTR. Unfortunately they were all out of any pre-cut tarp kits in a color I wanted. The Tarp will be a Winter12 1.1 oz Silpoly in Moroccan Blue. (thanks again jellyfish for doing a video on that) - I will need this as my wife has refused to try and wake me up any more when i say I am "Testing" my hammock. I woke up the other night with Cold Shoulders @ 2:30 AM @ 36 deg - as the pad just doesn't quite cover it. So here is the pic of the finished hammock, with my fishing spot as the backdrop. I love living off the river especially being this close to the city.
