Hennessy jungle zip. Yes or no for first all in one package hammock? Suggestions under $300? No insulation yet. Will buy later.

Thanks. I will check out the gear you recommended. I have heard about the superfly. But I didn't recognize the Dutch hammock. I assume it is from the company that makes dutchware. Again I appreciate your advice.

I started with HH Deluxe Classic (bottom entry) and it is still my go to summer (bug season) hammock because the bottom entry seems to do a better job than zippers at keeping bugs out and me in. I did have the mod 4 done by 2QZ2 so that I also have zippers.

For a quick overnight in the colder (non bug) season I use a Dutch 11 footer. The Dutch is also my go to for day hike hangs.

I started with HH A Sym bottom entry 10 yrs ago. Pd $140 Canadian from MEC. Comes with the tarp. Best starter hammock for the $ IMHO. Fast set up and very bug free. Has kept me dry and mostly warm in early spring camping in Algonquin Park for years.

i was able to pick up a HH SAFARI DELUXE used from a m/c riding buddy after i saw it up close & in use

it was sized right for this old fat man & the $$ was 1/2 new

today i see the same outfit on fleabay for under $200, shipped free

    and

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Hennessy...0AAOSwnHZYZZza

knot knowing just how big an old boy you are here are butt 2 choices

goto the HH interwebsite and find the size to suit your own personal needs

if nothing else something like this would get you hung and allow you to do more research while in the woods...

    GOOD LUCK W/ YOUR QUEST

Are Dutch hammocks just lighter or is there another advantage? I appreciate everyone's input. The only reason I am considering a HH is I like the complete pkg idea. However if a Dutch hammock is where everyone eventually lands I can see savings. If buying pieces here and there what brands of gear are good in the quality and for the hammock community?

For me it's a simple, well made hammock at a very reasonable price. There are a number of cottage venders that provide quality hammocks. I would recommend spending time on this site reading reviews and various applicable posts then going to the vendor sites and looking at products. I spent about a month going back and forth reading up on all the available info before buying. I probably changed my mind a dozen times. Do you want a simple gathered end hammock, separate or integrated bug net, foot box and shelf? It can be overwhelming at times and eventually comes down to choosing what works within your budget and what features you want. Good luck.
