    footbox vs Knotty Mod

Thinking about the next hammock ...

lots of looking and thinking about the posts youtube videos from Jellyfish (http://jellyfishreport.blogspot.com/...NnFVZ5M4H#more) showing a hammock with both a Hangnout footbox and a knotty mod.

Planning on using the RBTR Robic 1.7 XL and want to be able to add an integrated bugnet in the spring.

What are your thought and experience on adding an integrated bugnet to a 11' hammock with both a footbox and knotty mod.

I've been thinking about this too, so I'm glad you brought it up.

We would need to have the bugnet gather the same amount for the knotty mod and the footbox so that there isn't strain on the fabric.

Maybe add a knotty mod to the bugnet to match the one in the hammock and also the footbox?

When a bugnet is attached you don't need either. The netting will keep the hammock sides pulled up.

    Cool.
You just let the slack out of the foot-box and sew the zipper on the outside if it?

I'm at this point for my next hammock. Wavering back and forth on the integrated net. I've fielded some suggestions and the consensus is the XL material should take care of the need for your mentioned additions

The stretchable foot box would not convert well to an integrated bug net. I would do dual knotty mods if I was planning to add a bug net later.

Reviving this for a quick question. How does the footbox do when you're sitting back lounging in chair mode? The footbox would be behind my right shoulder but would this put strain on the hammock/footbox since I would be kind of leaning on it?

It doesn't cause me any problems. All the strain is on the shock cord. None on the fabric.

keep in mind perhaps that you do have the option of doing a bugnet much like ones done in the past by sheltowee or like DH Raven...I am currently constructing my first bugnet and chose to make my "integrated bugnet hammock" using this simple design...

I need to look later tonight at my wife's raven, not sure if the zipper is too far down and would interfere with the stretchy footbox....it may be.....how much of the hammock fabric in inches does that stretchy area take up?

The benefits of a separate bug net have pushed me to go that direction so an attached bug net is not a concern for me. Keeping my quilt in the hammock, on the other hand...
