    Calf ridge?!?!

I have 3 Dutch net less hexon 1.0 11' hammocks. They are Awesome. However, 1 has noticeably/significantly more calf ridge than the other two. Is this possible if the are virtually set up the same except for color (same brand, length, material, ridgeline), and if so, why/how? I always thought it was the particular hang until I set up side by side with identical lengths/angles, with the spreader bar.

Try turning your hammock over. Sometimes the bias stretch is different and flipping it over helps.

I haven't figured out exactly what, but there is something about how the continous loop sits at the end (or, rather, how tha fabric gathers around it) that affects the calf ridge. After sewing end caps on my hammock that had previously had no calf ridge at all, there was suddenly a pronounced one. I thought the end caps caused it, so I took them off, but the problem was still there. Removed the CLs again to see if there were any changes to the fabric, couldn't see anything, put them back on and the problem was gone. No idea what I did. Probably not very helpful

I observed the same. Playing with the CLs helps. I think Dutch should come and check once a year

Check to make certain that the hammock was cut square.

I had a hammock once that was 3" shorter on one side than the other. Both ends were out of square creating an isosceles trapezoid (yes, I too had to look that up!). Equal sides does necessarily mean that it's square either. i.e. the sides of a parallelogram are equal length. No amount of fiddling is going to correct for either.

Best to pull CL's and stretch out fully to measure across diagonally, corner to corner. Of course measuring fabric is imperfect, so a deviation of about 2" or less I'd ignore. Much more than that would warrant further investigation. Got a 4ft square?

thank you for the info. More than anything it reassures that I am not imagining the issue. I will flip, measure, and reinstall the reinstall the CL....hopefully that will remedy or improve.

I recently was hanging and was found an unusually uncomfortable calf ridge. It took me a while to figure out what was going on. I like to lay with my feet a little bit higher than my head. The foot end of the hammock was hanging a little bit too low so without thinking, to compensate, I had moved really close to the foot end and this caused much more of a calf ridge. I raised the foot end of the hammock, which let me position toward the middle and all was much better. I am now of the belief that feet too close to the foot end causes the calf ridge.

I noticed this past weekend that I had no calf ridge when I was in the hammock by myself. However, when a 7-year old child climbed into my hammock at dawn every morning, a nasty one would develop. I am not sure what it is about kids that make for calf-ridges, but this young lady is getting her own hammock stat.
    I sew things on youtube.
I don’t sew on commission, so please don’t ask. Thanks.

There might be some critical information missing - what color is the hammock?
