Again, new guy speaking... The Smurfs have been a pleasure to deal with so far, they are prompt in responding, generous in their dealings, and helpful in every way. This hammock is for my wife and they certainly leave me feeling well taken care of and want the best products possible for her. Dutch has also been quick to respond, kind, and helpful as well. Seems like two great companies that are looking to do two things great. im happy to be supporting them both. My friends, family, and loved ones will get to view both products and figure out what works best for them. Win, win in my book.

Wow what a response to all this! I was not aware of a riff but I am not aware of much. I agree with LIttle Shop of Hammocks (Firesong), Shug, and all the rest in regards to having the first world problem of too many great designers and manufactures of hammocks. I have a Hennessy and love it, however wished it had zippers on both sides, removable netting, over cover, and LH or RH lay options lol... so I too might have been one to redesign to make fit my personality etc.

I think it is great to have such a hammock community that pushes these innovations. As mentioned hammocks were one of poverty and shop crews, and now we are complaining we have too many options!

Kickstarter has brought about amazing technologies, leisure, manufacturing products that would not otherwise be here cause they could not get funding due to market analysis because of lack of statistic on the product proposed. That seems wrong since many are indeed new innovations. Kickstarter proves the public die in fact have an interest. If they did not then the product does not make it through the hoops. Companies such as Google even support these kickstarter innovations (own such one).

Just keep the wood smoke alive and our butts hanging and all will be happy!

Thanks to this thread i'll have something entertaining to read while swaying in my hammock tonight. Not sure I agree there is a rift a brewing. My kids arguing over who gets the last pop tart in the morning seems a bit more menacing if you ask me. I personally love my dream hammock, but wouldn't think twice about purchasing a new Chameleon. I just have to figure out how to convince my wife that i need another one.

Kickstarter and Massdrop are just two new tools of the trade. The consumer market is big enough for everyone to get a slice of the pie.
