VIDEO - AL Pinhoti Trail - Scotts Lake Overnight

My Brother in-law and I hit the Pinhoti Trail again this weekend for a night in the woods. This time his daughter, my niece, tagged along for the fun. We got a late afternoon start to the hike in and made it to the lake just in time to catch some teenagers "muddin" down to the Scotts Lake cascade in a Jeep Cherokee and a Chevy Cavalier. No joke. Didn't get video of it but I describe the encounter. We settled down a hang spot and revived an old fire ring to make a pretty good campsite. We even had a fire the next morning, which is something I rarely do. Anyways, I hope you enjoy the video!

Looks like a great trip. I was out with a group this weekend doing the Chin/Skyway trails - just a short overnight trip.
I hate it when people accuse me of lolly gagging when I'm clearly dilly dallying...

Very Nice trip report. I liked seeing the old Hunting shacks and their foundation. The cascades were really nice to see too.

It was quite nice. Other than the foot deep leaf drifts in certain sections, hence the crunch, crunch lol.

I have got to get out and check those trails too. I'm a bit on the fence to do just the Pinhoti for my big hike or just explore the Cheaha Wilderness for 4 days this year.

Crazy for January even for Alabama. Now we've added Tornadoes to the January weather.

Thanks. It was pretty cool to see the steps and, even though I didn't film it, there were what looked like huge hunks of foundation scattered down the hillside next to where they used to be.

Really wanted for my son to go too, but he was off at his aunts for the weekend.
It's not often that I seldom do something. . .
