Hi everyone - I'm Richard, I cruise this fantastic forum often but regrettably I am rarely able to get heavily involved in conversations. I run a small gear company called Sierra Madre Research, so far we've been focused primarily on hammock shelters - you may have seen our Nubé or Nubé Stratos shelters.
We're diving into a new segment of the hammock market this year, insulation, and one of the pillars of our company is building gear that is useful and valuable for the hammock camping community. I really appreciate the fantastic people here and the wealth of expertise - so I'd love to hear your opinions on what you'd like to see more of from hammock insulation manufacturers, what qualms you have, and any other comments you may have.
I put together a little survey here, we've had a great response of over 200 people thus far and it's really been helpful to gauge hammock campers expectations.

But I know this group really likes to dig deep so I'll pose a few other questions as well.
- is the fiddle factor annoying or enjoyable for you?
- do you struggle with drafts from the ends of your UQ?
- struggle with damp or clumpy down?
- how often are you having to re-distribute the down in your bags?
- do you feel like you have full coverage in your "full length" UQ?
- currently the average cost of an 800-900FP Down 20-30°F TQ/UQ system is around $500 and weighs around 42 ounces. Happy with that?
Any feedback, question, or comment is welcome - let the games begin...
[ I am not digging for emails here, just sincerely trying to find ways for our company to serve the hammock community better. I appreciate your opinions ]
