    Question Thread Injector Sub-Forum?

Just putting this out there as a question, and for attention of the mods. Would a sub-forum for all things sewing machine related be useful? It could/would include discussion about specific machines, maintenance, etc, so it's possible the donating members DIY section may be more appropriate.

Suggesting because the "Show Us Your..." thread is a great thread to share what you've got, but discussion in that thread is difficult, and we end up with multiple threads about "should I buy..?" or "how do I..?" I for one have quite a few machines here (some keepers, some for sale, some projects) and would actually enjoy sharing & learning from photos/videos/tips. Having all that information in an easier to find location (w/ stickies, etc.) seems like it would really help the DIY community here.

Beyond that, I often find great machines at good prices all over the country for pickup (on CL, eBay, Goodwill, etc.) and again there's no good way to share that info with others on here. Whether or not that extended as far as allowing machines to be listed for sale on here (either in the main FS thread or another thread within this subforum) is at the mods discretion, of course. I'm actually not sure if they're allowed in the current FS section?

Including a poll as well, just because I can. Thoughts?

I like the track that your on I was thinking of this very idea the other night. There could also be a list of stickied techniques, like the recent rolled hem foot technique, a list of suggested needle sizes to needle thread/fabric weight, common mistakes when sewing lightweight material, etc

Sounds fine with me as long as it stays in the free-access portion of the forum. I'm not a fan of having restricted-access areas. I feel that goes against the sharing spirit and culture we try to foster in this forum.

The DIY part of this amazing forum is vast to say the least and sometimes tricky to search in and find the information you're looking for but that you're confident is in there somewhere. I'm all for something that can make the organisation a little better. Once you start it's easy to see the next topic you want to make a sub forum for though. All the major topics really: tarps, quilts and hammocks.

I think it's a great idea, along with some best-practices stickies as mentioned above.

Periodic bump.. pool so far seems to support the idea, but only 17 voted which is a pretty small sample size.

+1 on a sewing machine sub forum, or thread injector, or whatever people choose to call it.

    I sew things on youtube.
I don’t sew on commission, so please don’t ask. Thanks.

I'm not seeing the poll in Tapatalk, have to go to Web View (top right ...) to see it.

    Is this a known thing?
