    Hammock Camping on beach Success

I been fiddling with my "No Ground Car Camp" hammock stand and with some pointers and instructions I made some DIY large 24 inch aluminum stakes with the intent to hang Hammock without trees on sand.

Sometimes kayak camping - all my tent brethren dictate the spot and it is heavy on sand and low on trees ("nearby").

Also - I am dying to just hang on the beach when RV'ing at least once just for the fun of it.

Anyway...used some aluminum T (40 dollars after shipping) and made the stakes and the guylines attach near the bottom of the stake.

Used a couple pieces of drift wood for the stand to poles to sit on to not sink.

Last night I camped in the setup and it to my surprise did not slump at all and held me all night!

In the morning I tried to bounce around and even swing in it and it did not budge!

    I am only 155 lbs.

Amazing. I haven't successfully used the no ground hiking pole.

Mine are not the hiking pole model to be clear to others

The anchors I made worked great for me

I really bounced a lot and could not get them to fail and all night no slumping

One key aspect is when setting them up (this was loose sand mind you - not like sugary white smooth sand but very loose - you you can grip the stake in this stuff if will pull up and out easy...

The key for me was the guyline .... if you stake it down and the guyline is running up and close the the stake - it will want to pull up

The guyline needs to pull from the bottom at the proper angle

As such - I did my best to kinda keep them pulled out as i drove in the stakes.

I knocked them in with a small log in as fas as I could plus some.

    Nice!
Where did you source your poles from? I would love a parts list for this setup - I really like that you can setup your tarp as well

NoGround Car camp mod two complete systems - shipped for I think 150-160 as I recall.

The wire dog bones included in the stand kit are attached to the guylines and the toggle fits just through the half inch hole drilled near the base of the stake.

    For easy setup (very easy)

Once you set up your stand to fit best your hammock and tarp (hang angle and enough width for tarp - and the shorter the distance between the poles the better to minimize the force...I think) then I made a simple ridgeline that fits the distance between the poles. Then I measured the distance from the base of the pole to one of the anchor points (I anchor them nearly as far as the included UCR's will extend) the I cut a length of cord to match that length from pole base to anchor point.

Then on next setup - I put both anchors down for one side - then attach that guyline - then use your cord to measure the distance to your other two anchor points and place anchors.

Then you simply insert one pole - hold ridgeline tight the walk it to the other pole hub and insert 2nd pole and it all stays up on its one nice and tight and allows you to easily attach your hammock and tarp

I think a continuous ridgeline with this setup is better

Also - I used a couple "orange screw" anchors for my stake guylines - these lovely things I use for my stand anchors in former soil and so far they seem to work great.

This is just a satisfying fiddling thing for me but I really had a blast sleeping out in the open.

That's a good job. Every since I started hammocking I have been wanting to hang at the beach. Thanks for sharing your methods and experience!
