Eddie Bauer Down Throw ~3/4 UQ ??s

I picked one of these up, and with the 56 inch length [actual], it seems to be perfect as an entry-level, three-quarter UQ for summer use.

My question is: has anybody tried making a lightweight UQ with a built-in/sewn-on under quilt protector?
My thought was to get a couple of yards of sil-poly, cut it just larger than the EBDT, and then sew it on with a fold-over on the edges to make the channels for my bungees. Hopefully grab a couple of extra degrees.
Probably pull out the lengthwise stitching to create larger down pockets...etc.

Has anybody tried this? Can any of you guys think of the reasons why you wouldn't work? Improvement to the idea?

I wouldn't use the silpoly. I made an underquilt protector from silnylon and would find a couple tablespoons of water from condensation in the bottom in the morning. That is whether the ends were snugged up or open.

    DrPhun- what do you use?
I thought they needed to be waterproof. Can you get by with water-"resistant"?

I'm kinds a clueless n00b on this because I use the AMOK with it's pad system rather than a UQ. I want to work something up for my day-mocks so I can lend them to friends.

I have one (linked below) and tried using it as extra insulation inside a full length UQ. After a dozen nights I didn't really see much of a benefit.Temps were around 32F. So I'd say it added 5F to 10F in insulation. The UQP you are planning should be made/designed to help hold it up against you and I think you'll probably be OK down to 58F or 60F. DWR (water-resistant) is better than sil for the UQP.

    FYI:
I now use the EB Throw as a top quilt when temps are above 60F or as additional top insulation inside a sleeping bag when it's cold. I just hand stitched the bottom for a simple foot box.

If I were you I would save up an extra $25 and get a true 3/4 UQ like the AHE Jarbridge and use the blanket as a TQ.
These go on sale for $80 several times a year:
