Great camping near forest and water near Sacramento?

Hi, been sleeping in my Hennessey Ultralite Backpacker hammock in back yard and wanting to go somewhere with trees and water near Sacramento, California. Somewhere that's not an official campsite where tons of people pass through. Any suggestions? I'm looking for that and also for a place near forest& water to bring about 15 people for a weekend camping trip when the weather gets warmer.

Any suggestions/specifics would be super appreciated.

Are you wanting to backpack or car camp? I've found some really nice spots backpacking in Carson-Iceberg Wilderness as well as Emigrant Wilderness. Done some car camping with the hammock in Stanislaus National Forest, but it was in a campground at Herring Creek.

Carson Pass to Showers Lake of Hwy 88 park at Carson Pass sno-park follow the PCT 5.5 miles to Showers Lake plenty of nice looking areas to hang a hammock, camp fires OK, dogs OK, fire arms OK, don't need a back country permit, last time I was there was two years ago before I got a hammock.
