I sleep with ear plugs now. Too many things waking me up with their rustling.
When Billy Bob's Yeti does finally come calling, I'll die peacefully.
I hope I can forget the first part of this story before my next hang. I don't feel safe in the house right now!!!
ROTFL! Just got back from a couple of nights in the woods, and had a possum skitter through dry leaves Friday night. I swear until the headlight picked him out I was convinced there was a 12 foot tall bear barreling towards the hammock. Your story telling is priceless.
"...the height of hammock snobbery!"
Lol, that was hilarious.
same here, altho i was in my 20s and deer hunting alone. I thought the whole Blair Witch thing was stupid, boring movie, but that morning I sat under my favorite pine tree shining my flashlight on every sound I heard convinced me otherwise lol
I don't know about possum or fox, but the chipmunks of north central PA sound like a herd of Elk day or night

I love your story as this is what I go through evey time I take my wife. At 11 thousand feet in CO is was something going under her hammock I only go to shine my light on her and found her out of her hammock looking to see what was under her. The next time out we hiked past a prison during the trip and about 2:00am she thought she heard a prisoner. It is amazing how we allow are minds to create after dark. Keep the stories coming.
Totally awesome story! I even read it out to my wife and she got a chuckle too! I agree that the night noises (unknown) play havoc in our brains... ...and that mole in the leaves nearby seems like something MUCH bigger!
AND it inspired me to order the shirt! Well done!
Out in the wilderness hanging in a hammock I often feel like hangin dinner for a hiker hungry bear
