I sleep year round in a table cloth using a thicker fleece.blanket for an under quilt. Shopped for blanket with a hem large enough to snake shock cord thru. All that was required was to cut a few slits and install shock cord, add cord locks on the short ends and tie a knot to join the loop thru the long sides. Very quick and cheap.

The Snugpak underblanket is probably the most cost effective for the use that you intend to use it for. Under $50 and ready to use.

I sleep every night in my hammock, even threw my bed out once I made my bridge. I like to have a polyester blanket straight underneath me laying in my hammock, all four corners of the blanket are attached with shockcord to loops by my spreader bars. Then I just have a nice soft blanket on top and I'm super comfy. The reason I threw the blanket inside the hammock instead of on the bottom is so I don't have to wash my hammock unless it gets dirty camping.

I did what Bizz did for years. Wanting a cleaner, more elegant look, I now use a La Siesta Colibri padded (insulated) hammock as cheapish UQ for cotton top hammock. Works great: http://www.lasiesta.com/CQH15-49/ . Heck, i could just use the Colibri by itself if i found nylon acceptable outside of camping situations next to skin.

I used my summer quilt set which consisted of a 40 degree phoenix and a 50 degree flight jacket. I still needed a pad under my feet for the colder nights. If I go back to sleeping in the hammock full time I think I'll order a light full length UQ to make it a tad easier to get in and out, kinda annoying to make sure the footpad is aligned all the time.

I'm thinking that getting a few of those and/or fleece blankets and then do that simple fabric clip option that others mentioned is probably the best option

I've found my DIY poncho liner under quilt to be more than enough

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but I HAVE to know what is producing the rainbow on your wall. That is awesome!
