I once saw a platoon of Marines restrain King Kong with cuben fiber wrist restraints so.......

I heard that Chuck Norris' tears were 1000x stronger than dyneema. Too bad he never cries.

I want me some gel spun Chuck Tear Line. Thin as a strand of hair and strong enough to tow an aircraft carrier.

I suppose it means that by weight it is stronger than steel in tension. Of course, cuben doesn't weigh very much so it isn't going to be bullet proof and abrasion isn't the same as tension.

It is like how titanium is two times stronger than steel, but it is a metal so the use is similar. You can have something weigh half as much for the same strength or weigh the same and have twice the strength.

Just a little disambiguation here (I know you know, DrPhun, but for more impressionable folk) - titanium is as strong as some steels, but is 45% lighter (by volume)

I wouldn't compare it to steel.. You aren't going to make a tarp out of steel.. would make more sense to compare it to silypol or silynylon

I think they're saying that Dyneema is 15 times stronger than steel, not cuben fiber.

Why did the price go crazy?
Company in US got bought out by a company in England. Don't know how much it caused the price to go up. I was talking to Dutch about it a while back and he said the new company wanted vendors to buy the cuben fiber 500 yards at a time which can be a very large investment. Don't know if things got better but as the price has not gone down..... Dutch use to offer several cuben fabrics and now he only offers one.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !
