Thanks for the welcome. does not look lIke a lot is going on for Ms hangers
We have been having a Fall hang in November the last three years. Homochitto Clear Springs area the first two and up near Batesville this last year on private land. I go down to Rocky Springs just north of Port Gibson on the Trace about three or four times a year for overnight hangs while doing work in that area. I get over to Alabama with some friends in the Sipsey at least twice a year also. I'm taking the older guys from my church youth group to Homochitto first of March for an over night trip this year. There's a nice group hang in Louisiana I think in March you might want to look at as well as the Spring and Fall hangs in Sipsey each year. I have tried to hit a section hike on the AT each year but not sure if I'll get one this year. I may be doing my vacation time on a mission trip to Colorado, Montana, Northern Turkey or Peru on the Amazon. Still waiting for those dates to flesh out and see if I might be able to hang my hammock somewhere exotic this year.
I find MS hangers to be more loan wolf types than most other areas. It's one of those "if you call it they will come" kind of deals. Shout out about where you're going and when and you may have a bite or two or twenty. Just never know.
I can tell you honestly in the four years I've been doing this and all the folks I've met through the forum and hung with (which adds up to some 80 to 100 people) I've only met a couple that I wouldn't want to hang with again. I'm sure the reverse could be said about me from others but the point is you won't find many hard to like people at hangs. That may be a factor of the mindset of hammock people or just really being fortunate. I think it's the hammocks personally. Right now, four of the top ten guys I know and would call a personal friend are guys I met through group hangs and the forum.
Gotta love hammocks. They have so many more benefits than just a good night's sleep.
