Question Help with Building the Dream

I'm a long time hanger in a simple 16 year old Siam Hammock. I got some cash for Xmas to put towards my next 16 years of hanging and figured I'd go for it. I was initially looking at the Clark TX-270 but something about these Dream Hammocks is very appealing.

I've put together my order and would love to get feedback from anyone who has "been there, done that" so I can avoid making any too many novice mistakes.

    A bit about me - 5'8"...too heavy...say 205lbs
    - Mix of hiking and car camping - generally 3 season (but I am in Canada so winter is possible in the future).
    - I am prioritizing easy of setup/take down, comfort, longevity, and general utility (future-proofing) over weight, but am still keeping an eye on total weight.
    - I am open to any suggestions on tarps, I was looking at the UGQ Hanger 12 HEX but I didn't see how could get that working with a snakeskin/whoopiesling/single ridge line setup (I'm a noob to 21st century hanging though! I may be missing something simple)

Anyway - here is what I put together:

    Sparrow:
    Net & Cover
    Length 11ft
Wide as possible vs 60”?? (would like to be able to see outside without too much difficulty)
    Double layer
    Fabric:
    Outside: 1.6oz HyperD (Dark Olive)
    Inside: 1.6oz HyperD. (Blaze Orange)
    Overcover: 1.6oz HyperD (Dark Olive)
    Asym lay: Right
    Suspension: Whoopie Sling
    Tree Straps: 6ft (maybe 10ft)
    UQ & Tie out hooks
    RidgeLine Organizer

    Color Accents:
    Orange zipper pulls
    Orange top stitching
Orangen Grosgrain loops on UQ hooks and tie out hooks

    Colored Amsteel:
    Orange

    Gear Sling:
    1.6oz HyperD (Coyote Brown)

    Storage pocket:
    1 x 14x10 zipper top
    1 x 20x7 open top

    Peak shelf
    x 2 (both ends)

    Gear loops:
    Both ends (yellow)

Thanks in advance for any tips, tricks or advice

If you want to save weight u could get the overcover in 1.1 ripstop it comes in the color you want. I got 1.1 as my over cover on my dangerbird.

Looks like a great setup. One thing I would personally adjust on it would be adding vents on the overcover. The vented ends help with breathability and condensation issues, especially when it goes below freezing.
I love storage and organization, but you've sure added all the options. If you were on a budget, I might suggest dropping one of the pockets. If money is no issue, then by all means. It won't hurt having an abundance if money and weight aren't an issue.
Overall you'll be very pleased. The Smurfs are wonderful to work with and put out an exceptional hammock.

Pretty good selection, i have a double layer Thunderbird in the 1.6 Hyper D and it's great, i would change the whoopies for cinch buckles and 12 ft straps, it's just easier and faster to set up imo!
Other than that it looks perfect,, the Sparrow is an awesome hammock, my wife has one and it's beautiful!!.
Between the durability and strength of the Hyper D fabric and the quality and craftmanship that goes into a Dream Hammock, this hammock should last a very long time when taken care of properly, and seeing that your last hammock lasted 16 years i would imagine this new Dream Hammock would last even longer.
Please keep us posted and don't forget to put up pictures once it's done!
    Good luck and enjoy!!

    Thanks for the feedback,

A couple changes I made: Cinch buckle instead of whoopies, only the zipper pocket and 1.0oz Robic-X for the overcover. Order placed for that and a UGQ Hanger HEX 12 as well......and now I wait.

Again - thanks for the replies and for such a great community and collection of resources and knowledge.

    keep on hangin'!

The optional peak shelf is located down on the row of add-ons for the Sparrow. http://www.dream-hammock.com/shop.ht...tegory=3582775 You might have to scroll back and forth to see all the add-ons.

Here's a direct link to the peak shelf. http://www.dream-hammock.com/shop.ht...rcescroll=true

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks

    From the Dream Hammock page:
"Add-ons are now located at the bottom of each individual hammock order page."

Once you select the particular "bird" you're interested in from the hammock page, scroll to the bottom of the page and you'll see all of the add-on options. There are a number of them, so you'll have to scroll the options to the right to find the peak shelf.

    Hope this helps.
