So I saw this rabbit hole.

    And away I went.

Bought a inexpensive Sewing machine made by brother. 1.9 Ripstop from RSBTR. Other odds and ends from hither and yon. Sewed up a double ended stuff sack with the intent of getting the rust out of my sewing, and giving myself a sack that would hold both my bugnet and hammock. Didn't get the dimensions quite right. Barely holds the intended contents and looks like a sausage. Yikes! Next project, simple stuff sack more sewing practice and using up a little but of leftovers since the next project was a 10.5' Gathered end hammock. Came out quite nice. Then the GE Hammock. Single stitched roll hem for the edges. Triple stitched channels for the ends. Triple stitching wasn't so straight but it was functional. I made 2 triple fisherman knot loops inside the channels and did a tentative test hang. Worked great and was given to a buddy who will be camping with me later this year. His first hammock. He already called me and said he loved it. I'm slipping down the slope and he is on the precipice to hammock camping. My next project is another GE hammock with a shelf, and a set of mosquito net skins for my tarp. and then... and then... and then...

My first double ended stuff sack (of a digital desert camo) was intended for my newly completed tarp. As I was stuffing the tarp in for the first time, I realized that it was *way* to narrow, and *way* too long. Frankly, it was rather x-rated looking, and I was horrified that my kids might walk in and wonder what I was up to. (Heck, I was worried what my wife would think if she walked in! )

It quickly became two sacks for tarp stakes and guy lines.

I'm still trying to find Alice down here.
Highly addictive and very satisfying. Many hours at the machine. The bonus of knowledge is always a plus in my book. The ole lady use to be the sewing master of the house...now she hands me all the stuff that needs mending....

    Excellent idea. Simple conversion. Thanks.

I made about a dozen stuff sacks before attempting anything else. They come in handy, and the practice in using the machine was useful so i'm glad I did it.

Way to go on your projects!
    I sew things on youtube.
I don’t sew on commission, so please don’t ask. Thanks.

So today I am going to convert the sausage into 2 bags for stakes and lines. Try to make my bb&b throws into quilts. And a 1.9 ripstop gathered end hammock. I'll have too much stuff soon and will have to purge at the next car in hang I go to.

i should have started with a stuffsack or something without stuffing. i started with a RSBTR topquilt and with almost no instruction managed to complete it. but it is ugly. kinda has a twist in it, and not a straight stitch on it...but it is warm to at least 25F as proven in a back porch test hang. !!
