VIDEOS: Snowy, frigid, solo winter trek at Savage Gulf (and personal record temps)

Like everyone else on here, when the snow started so did my desires to go out and take on an adventure! So luckily for me, i had already been planning this one for about a week.
Somewhere in the single digits at night...teens in the day.
Northern guys...I know this is balmy conditions for you guys! But in Tenn its a very cold temperature range.

Good tips about how to walk on a trail with rocks and roots in slick conditions.

So true what you said about risk- my wife and I have t-shirts that say

"you could be eaten by a bear and die. You get get lost, starve and die. Or you could stay home, fall off your couch, and DIE! Get on the trail!"

    All life is a risk!

Some philosophical backpacking- food for thought!

I love "The Sound of Silence"... if you haven't hear the Disturbed version check it out- really good cover!

Nice pack- love the ULA products.

Good job on your insulation scheme- impressive! Hard to believe you were only carrying 30 lbs lol- and nice how it all fit in your Catalyst!

That's a great job getting out in the snow like that- I'm both impressed and jealous. Great TR!

EDIT: LOL I see at the end that you are familiar with the Disturbed cover- nevermind!

Thanks Al, you won't be sorry for getting a ULA. I like the Catalyst because its an all around pack...4 season but still very light. I took the extras off it so it weighs in at 2 lb 11 oz.

Ahh, I see. I thought because in tapatalk it doesn't show the youtube titles...so if watching from tapatalk you wouldn't know that there are two. Too many electronics, not enough time.

Thanks Tumbleweed! So glad you liked it. That song started playing in my head about the time I got to that last intersection and had 1.9 miles left of steep ascent. So I knew right then what I was going to do with music!
