Distance between trees - 11' hammock

I am graduating from a 9' hammock (ENO) to an 11' hammock this week (Sparrow). What is the preferred general distance between trees for a 11-foot rig? I'm also running a Noah 12 for my tarp right now if that helps.

Check out Derek Hansens hang calculator. It will show you your suspension length on various distances but it looks like about 10 ft is a minumum.

Pretty sure your tarp is going to set your minimum distance between trees and that will depend on the type of setup you use for your tarp.

This is really a factor of your suspension, and how close your suspension/hammock attachment point can get to the tree. With spiders, buckles, marlin spike, etc., I've hung between trees as close as 10 feet. With my tree huggers and whoopie slings suspension, I need more like 15 feet.

I find that 15-20 feet gives me enough space to set up my tarp, move around my campsite comfortably, and not have to stretch too high to keep my tree straps at the right height.

Thanks - that is what I was looking for.

This. You need for your tarp to fit between the trees. After that, your hammock doesn't really know the difference other than you'll have to move your straps higher on the trees as the distance increases and your suspension will get longer.

Yes, Tarp is your limiting factor with what you have.

I have a Noah 12 and an 11ft Dutch. I can get buy with 13ft for sure (but it will be tight!)... Dutch Stingerz on each end of the Noah 12 don't require much room beyond the Stingerz. What was limiting my hammock was Whoopie Slings, so have a Ducth Cinch Bug suspension that allows me to go to a smaller distance.

My setup will be pretty similar. Thanks for the info.

use the hang calculator referenced above. The discance you can hang will greatly depend on how high up the tree or how low you can get your hammock. I have successfully done 21 ft.
