Hmmm - I don't see a good video of it, but this one is pretty close. I don't tie it around the post like they do in the video though: I make the loops with my free hand, insert the toggle in the gap and then tighten the knot. It's probably not a good choice with a slippery rope (like amsteel) but it works great with a kevlar strap IMPE. Very easy with a little practice.

All you are really doing is making a u-bend in the line, folding the bend back over the line and then pulling a bite through the middle of the loop and inserting the toggle in the bite. Make sense at all?
Oh, and sometimes I'll give it a half twist when I fold it back in on itself but it really doesn't seem to matter if I do this or not - sometimes it just help me keep it sorted out while I'm tying it (in the dark, rain, and wind, while praying I don't lose my hammock )

That is fully a larkshead knot!! You larkshead a toggle in and sleep on that? You sir, are a wild man and your name should be sung in the halls of the fearless

You’re not tying the main suspension with a cow hitch are you? This is not a secure knot at all when one end is free.
I still say phantom grapplers on tree straps is the best thing i ever seen for the tree connection. I still can't tie that double diamond though so i must do without

Tie a simple button knot in the end. Leave some extra lengthcoming out of the top of the button for a few hangs to let the knot set. Then do a locked brummel with the excess, as close to the top of the button as you can.. and THEN burry the ends into each other. That will never slip out!!
Yes, my pack weighs 70lbs, but it's all light weight gear....

Hello there. I apologize for not having seen this thread before. I didn't invent the double brummel itself but I did use it to develop my Becket Loops.
The double brummel was shown to me by a man named Fred Trimble. He does some pretty neat splice work.
I have come up with a new method of splicing my Becket Loops though! It is a much cleaner method now that uses a series of locked brummels.
I'll have to make a video on the new method for you all.
