When the tree broke during my AT hike. It landed about a foot from my head!
I did not bring a pad, just a Loco Libre 10 UQ and a EE Revelation 10 TQ.
I saw another hammock camper with a pad and I myself own a Thermarest Xtherm Long Max, for use specifically in my hammock, but figured if I'm doing the hammock camping thing, I'm going all in
You can visually see where the tree line ends and if you read topo maps properly, you can figure if you need to stop and set up camp or move onward.
