Ring in the New Year with a Hang

My wife and I did our first Winter Hang together on New Year's Eve in Michigan. It was her first hammock experience and we had a great time. The temperature dropped to 24 degrees by morning so not too cold but definitely crisp. Since it was her first hang she wanted to be under one tarp and we found the perfect set of 3 trees to allow us to do that. I will see if I can attach some pictures to the post. We didn't have much snow so we back packed our gear instead of pulling the pulk and everything worked out well. This may be the start of a yearly occurrence. We are blessed to have a lot of State Land available to us that is pretty close to the house so we were able to stay close our first time out. Had a blast!!

I wonder how it is we have come to this place in our society where art and nature are spoke in terms of what is optional, the pastime and concern of the elite?

    Yeah!
I did my first ever sleep-out (and thus first winter hang) on New Year's Night in Michigan! It got down to 28 where I was at (backyard) but it was a blast!

I also did a solo New years hang, testing out the Klymit insulated static v pad. I started out with a skeeter beater used it for 3 years made several modifications, a nice hammock. Keep that ritual going.Having access to all that land is a blessing, take advantage for sure.Have fun and happy hanging.
