I'm interested in making a super lightweight asymmetric tarp (probably using the Cowboy DART guide https://dutchwaregear.com/2018/07/26...boy-dart-tarp/ and from these forums https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...0-GRAMS!/page3 )
But I'm struggling to see the benefit of trimming the rectangle down vs just hanging a rectangle tarp on the diagonal... Most of the google searching I have done says that asymmetric tarps get a longer ridgeline, but that only matters if you hang a rectangle tarp normally vs diagonally.
Is there something that I'm missing? Also, I've thought about trimming one end similar to the DART, but leaving the other end Square. Would this give me a small bit more coverage around the head end?
Just looking for thoughts about ultralight tarps.
Thanks in advance.
