I do carry two extra five foot amsteel leaders. I was thinking I would just Beckett Hitch the Kevlar to the fixed eye in the Amsteel and MSH the CL to the Amsteel.

Maybe add a locked whipping knot on the CL just in case so it doesn't pop off the MSH.

Another option is the BIAS hammock anchor. Video here. Use just like worms, works pretty darned well.

Larks head your amsteel eye to the loop in your kevlar strap, and the hammock cl loops over the anchor. I like to use adutchables so I can adjust the strap at the tree if need be. Good combo.

EDIT: Here's a second video on the correct way to use a hammock anchor.

Hammock Anchors are around a while.. Similar concept as the Dutch Speed Hooks, which I had and have since sold.

I am committing the next few hangs to the Kevlar/CL setup, with backup Dog Bones. No hardware.

For those on a budget, that can't, or don't want to spend so much on 30' of Kevlar straps, you can use mule tape from the CL to your Kevlar tree straps. I just got 50' of 3/8" MT for $7.13 delivered to my door. I have hung with it in my basement and it held up fine so far, just got this stuff so can't speak to how well it holds up over time. I have not weighed it, but I don't believe it is as light as the 2.2 Kevlar straps Dutch sells.

Just weighed the 3/8" mule tape. 1 foot weighs .09575 ozs or 2.713 grams.

Amsteel for me. I'll take the additional strength over saving a few grams.

Why not use the 2.2 Kevlar? Dutch puts that at 2.4 ounces for 15-foot straps.

I have my clothesline outside made of it, stretched with a KOLA, and it is just as strong and taught after weathering as six months ago, without any adjustments.
    Whats a KOLA?

Knock-off Loop Alien, i.e., the cheap imitations of LAs, typically from China. I'm a firm believer in supporting the original maker FWIW!
