    Happy New Years folks!

Let it be a year full of firsts and successes!
    That's two for me....
A small winter fire successfully started via fero rod. And hanging at 32 degrees.
FYI. I'm not hanging all night just a little day time venture.

Well I figure I've got a few pounds to shed. Rather than joining the crowd and sweating all over a tread mill, I'll spend some time walking through the forest. Beauty abounds and walking this time of year and toting snow shoes and the whole nine is about as good a work out as one could ask for.

    Firsts for the new year

I had two firsts as well: first time sleeping at night in a hammock, and first winter hang on Jan 1!!
This bodes well for the new year, eh?

Are those canvas tent poles setup as a stand?
If so... I'm liking it, and congrats on your first night hang.

Thanks! I was itching to get out there and have felt SO self-satisfied ever since!

I put together a "Super simple, strong, fairly cheap, very quick bipod style stand" out of chain link fence rails:
