My latest underground hang. Pics of anchors included :D

So, after the interest of my underground hangs, I thought Id put a post up of my latest.
We spent 3 nights, inc NYE under Paris.

So to start, here is a few pics of the hammocks in situ.

We use what are called pittons to attach onto.
These can take many shape or form. Generally, you find a crack and hammer them in, or sometimes if youre side loading, they can just be pushed in.
These are my pittons made by my friend. The shaft is hardened/tempered with a soft, larger head so the rope wont slide off.

Here are a few other styles...

Same style again with crabs to extend...

    Mine in the wall...

And mine again, demonstrating the need for the enlarged end, and use of a natural crack...

Anyway, thats about it from me for this trip. I hope you enjoy
But one more pic from me and my mate Matt...

    AWESOME

Great job man, I'm envious of where you spent your new years eve. I applaud your preparedness, judging by the gear you have I'm guessing you do a bit of rock climbing.

I've been exploring some storm drains here in Portland and some of them connect to various old basement tunnel type things. I've been toying with the idea of inviting a few friends to spend the night, but need to wait for better dry warm weather.

Judging by the graffiti you weren't the only ones with access to the catacombs. You weren't concerned about other people disturbing your hang- perhaps with less-than-benevolent intentions?

Looks like a neat place, I'd have been nervous considering the surroundings tho. Thanks for sharing!

Its quite well travelled, some areas more than others.
But Ive never had any problems with my kit. Ive not met anyone with ill intentions yet.

Wow, that's pretty cool man! I've never seen people hanging in the underground quite like that. Keep doing your thing!

I immediately thought Underground Quilt is missing an opportunity here

Looks like one heck of trip! Always cool to see the different ways people find to hang. I remember a guy used to post in here with photos of him hanging 50 feet or more above the ground using some kind of rigging to get to the top of massive trees. Seems like between the two of you, you've got the records for highest and lowest places a hammocks been hung! Good job

This is awesome! I've considered investing in two cams so that I could give myself more hanging options when in rocky areas with less trees. Did you ever considered climbing cams over the pittons solution?
