    Newbie to the forum

Just joined the forum. My daughter in law got me a hammock for Father's Day and I was able to use it this summer and during my fall deer hunting trip to Northern Michigan. My wife and I are planning a winter camp this coming weekend and unfortunately our snow has melted. Hopefully we get some accumulation over the next couple of days. This will be her first hang and I am excited she is willing to give it a try in the winter. Original plan was to take a tent but she asked if we could take the hammocks so we will do that. She does want to hang together so I saw on this forum some options for 2 hammocks and 1 tarp set up. We will try that and if enough snow to take the pulk we may throw a tent in for back up just in case. Anyway, hoping to learn a bunch from this forum and look forward to all my future hangs!!

Hello and welcome to the forums from Marietta GA.

You didn't mention what you were doing for insulation in your post, but you will certainly need a plan to stay warm in your hammocks. Good luck and happy hanging!

We have the Big Agnes Q core pads inside a bivy with the military MSS bags. I used it deer hunting and it got down to 17 degrees and I was toasty warm without any layers on in the bag, and it is only projected to drop into the mid-20s this weekend. Should be fine but thanks for looking out for a new guy!! I am looking for some lighter weight down sleeping bags for back packing when a pulk isn't an option because of low snow depth.

Welcome to the the forums from another Michigander! You'll find that this is a great place to get your fix on for everything hammock related. Lots of great information here but more importantly, it's the members that make it what it is. I would recommend getting out to a group hang sometime to see the various setups and get a chance to learn from others. Enjoy your upcoming trip and let us know how it all turns out.

    Welcome from alabama.

As far as light weight sleeping gear check out www.hammockgear.com, www.locolibregear.com and http://undergroundquilts.com to name a few.

I have quilts from hammock gear and love them
