    Backyard hangin'

I am currently writing this from the hammock, hanging in the backyard with my youngest son. It's a pretty warm night so far, low only getting to the High 50's. I have my new DownThrow I received as part of my Spaceweasel gift, and my, overkill for tonight, Incubator 0* UQ. I have the party lights up for him, he's content and happy in his shorter Serac hammock with some JacksR Better insulation. He's happy, and so am I!

Did you hang both hammocks on the new posts?

So I had my son between our new posts. I purposely positioned the posts so that I could also utilize the 6x6 post that makes up the gateway into our backyard. That way we can hang two like I have set up in the photo. We didn't make it the whole night, when we went to bed there were no clouds in the sky, but it was pretty humid. Overnight the clouds rolled in (0-10% chance of rain), and we didn't have tarps up, so we ended up covered in a heavy dew, heaviest we've seen here in weeks. Dylan woke up to pee and decided he wanted to go in to his bed, so we went in.

    First winter backyard hang

I Did my first cold winter backyard hang. I wanted to test my new High Sierra Sniveller and Duch Buckle Whoopie set up. The mail arrived late so it was dark when setting up and my fingers froze a bit moving the Dutch Buckles to where they needed to be. Considering it was my first time with the Whoopie, Dutch Buckle set up, I was pleased with how simple it turned out to be. It took FOREVER for my water to boil on my Optimus Crux Lite. I guess I will need to find a different stove for winter camping. I set up on the lake sans tarp and it was WINDY!. The temperature was 14 °, -1° with windchill. I figured I would have to bail, but I was very toasty and warm in the hammock (I've had a Winter Nest for a year and love it). Being able to sit up under the HSS the next morning, then opening up the "Hatch" to stick my head out and get out of the hammock was fantastic. Here's to more winter nights outdoors in 2017.

First sleep out and first cold weather hang, all in one!

Last night (Jan 1) welcoming in the New Year!
Just finished the bipod stand yesterday, couldn't stand to not try it out!

And here I was at midnight-- yes I am inside there. Got down to 28*F, I was toasty.

I call it a success and look forward to more hanging in this new year!
